Tokinone Food Package

Tokinone

Tokinone is a package design for Dorayaki, a traditional Japanese pastry made by sandwiching bean paste between pancakes. The Tokinone version adds butter cream and flavors such as fruit and green tea. The pattern uses seven colors, one for each flavor, with random shapes that suggest a soft texture. The colors and forms combine old and new, Japanese and Western references. The box is made of non-glossy high quality paper that matches the texture of the pastry. Each cake is given ample space inside the box. All parts are recyclable paper and can be folded flat after use.

Tokinone Food Package by Toshiki Okada was identified as an innovative representation of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Tokinone Food Package received the Bronze A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2021. The A' Packaging Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design competition which honors outstanding design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
