Lay's 2021 Mood Match is a limited edition snack food packaging series created for an exclusive social media giveaway. The set includes four designs inspired by mood rings, each linked to positive memories and emotions. The stated intent is to invigorate a sense of energy or to offer a sense of comfort. Each design is matched to a flavor and a feeling: gratitude for Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup, optimism for Cappuccino, feistiness for Chili and cheerfulness for Salted Caramel. The packaging offers a short break from daily reality.
Lay's 2021 Mood Match Food Packaging by PepsiCo Design and Innovation has been highlighted as an innovative example of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Lay's 2021 Mood Match Food Packaging received the Iron A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2022. The A' Packaging Design Award is a highly prestigious international design competition which celebrates outstanding design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
